Finding the Right Support

At The Fairways we understand that moving into a Family Assessment Centre can be a challenging journey. We are here to provide a safe, structured and nurturing environment, prioritising the needs of every family we support.

The Fairways welcomes families from all cultures, faiths and backgrounds. Each referral is carefully considered to ensure we are able to support and meet the needs of all the families. We specialise in supporting parents who may have:

  • Experienced domestic abuse
  • A history of mental health difficulties
  • Learning difficulties or a learning disability
  • Managed or historic drug or alcohol misuse
  • Multiple or complex needs
  • Limited support networks
  • Difficulty maintaining routines, safety or child development needs

Each referral is considered individually  focusing on the family’s unique situation, the presenting risks  and our ability to provide the right care, support & guidance.

Our Services

At The Fairways we offer a comprehensive package of support designed to empower parents, strengthen family relationships and promote safe and confident parenting. Our services are delivered within a nurturing, respectful and inclusive environment underpinned by evidence-based practice and the Residential Family Centre Regulations.

Parenting Assessment

We provide a robust 12-week parenting assessment carried out by qualified assessors using the ParentAssess Framework. Our assessments are fair, transparent  and tailored to the unique needs of each family. Parents are introduced to the process from the outset and are fully supported to be actively engaged and involved throughout the assessment.

Individualised Support Planning

Every parent receives a personalised support plan that identifies strengths, areas for development and clear goals. These plans are co-produced with parents, children and professionals. The Centre ensure parents are always involved in the decision making processes which will effect their lives.

Parenting Skills Development

Parents take part in structured sessions covering child development, safety and hygiene, attachment and bonding, routines, emotional attunement and creating a nurturing home environment. Staff coach, mentor, teach, support, model good practice and offer guidance to build confidence and competence.

  Therapeutic Support

Parents receive ongoing emotional support from a multidisciplinary team of staff trained in PACE, trauma-informed practice, CBT & DBT techniques, SEND,  mindfulness and reflective work. This includes 1:1 sessions focusing on developing understanding, coping strategies, resilience and emotional stability.

Health and Wellbeing Support

We assist parents in engaging with therapists, health services, attending appointments and understanding guidance from midwives, health visitors, GPs and specialists. Staff support healthy routines, nutrition, infant health, safe sleep and the importance of Mental Health and wellbeing.

Substance Misuse Support

Parents receive guidance, education and structured support from skilled professionals to help them understand substance misuse and its impact on family life, relationships and overall health and wellbeing. Safety plans, relapse prevention and ongoing monitoring ensure risk is managed safely and sensitively.

Life Skills and independent  Living Support

We help and empower parents to develop the knowledge & practical skills needed for everyday living  including food & nutrition, budgeting, household routines, meal preparation, developing employability skills, writing a CV, applying for jobs  and confidently accessing community based services.

Multi-Agency Partnership Working

We work closely with social workers, therapists, health professionals, counsellors, legal representatives, perinatal services and community support networks to ensure parents receive the right level of  coordinated and holistic care and support including targeted support for learning disabilities and learning difficulties.
